Orifice fittings contain a reduction in inside diameter that restricts the flow of the product through the pipeline and operate by means of differential pressure technology. Pressure slightly increases as fluid approaches the reduction and drops suddenly as it passes through the orifice.
These fittings also allow the manufacturers to pre-set an identified orifice in specific hose lines or hydraulic tubes, which minimizes the need for costly flow control valves. They also decrease pressure to a piece of equipment that may not handle the full force of system pressure. These fittings are the most traditional and amalgamated metering systems for large gas and fluid volumes.
